My Scraps & More Sketch #98

Hello again! It's time for our second sketch of the month. Today's sketch is brought to us by our Guest Sketch Designer, Heather Leopard. But before we get to Heather's super fun sketch, lets learn a little about her 1st......

1) Heather has enjoyed capturing and documenting memories as far back as she can remember but it was the birth of her children and her desire to capture candid photos & stories for her children that reignited her passion for scrapbooking. Heather designs for American Crafts and Gossamer Blue kit club and manages social media for Scrapbook Circle kit club. Heather leads marketing initiatives for a major computer company and lives in Cypress, Texas with her husband, two daughters and her bonus son.

2) Tell us about your scrappy style/habits: I consider my style to be a Layered Chic, mixing, matching and layering multiple patterns and colors in fun and unique ways. I usually scrap a couple of times a week after the kids are kissed goodnight and tucked in bed and while the hubby is watching one of his "guy" shows. I usually have the TV playing in the background to keep me company.

3) Describe your sketch making process: When I’m creating a sketch, I like to look at the products first to see what I want to play with. Each collection is unique and there’s usually a paper or embellishment that is begging to be used – from doilies to 3x4 cards or in today’s case, fun patterns and flair. I also determine what picture or pictures I want to include so I know how much space to allocate to them. Afterall, that’s the reason for the layout.

4) 5 products/trends or techniques that are your favorite right now? These change all the time for me but I guess that’s why they call them trends. Right now, I’m particularly fond of using metallics, especially gold. Other techniques I love to use are layers upon layers of paper and ephemera, supersized die cut shapes with paper pieced backgrounds, adding a splash of color using watercolors or mist drops, and last but not least, combining pattern papers to create fun backgrounds.
